The biggest single cause of payroll errors is NOT the payroll department, payroll processing company or payroll software, but the raw payroll data that is given to the payroll processor or fed into the payroll software! You will never eliminate payroll errors until you have accurate raw payroll data and a seamless payroll interface from your time and attendance system.

The first objective of any automated time management system is to produce accurate, reliable and trustworthy raw payroll data, then feed that data through a payroll interface to the payroll processor or payroll software. Only then can errors in the finished payroll be avoided!

While the time and attendance solutions that Time Systems configures and installs for its clients provide many additional benefits–such as applied labor costs and more efficient workforce utilization–the primary objective is to insure an error-free finished payroll, and to interface seamlessly with whatever payroll processing system the client is using so that computation and conversation errors are eliminated on the front end.

When considering a time and attendance solution, and how to increase the accuracy of your finished payroll, here are some factors to consider:
» Automated and Independent: The system that collects raw payroll data should be automated, non-arbitrary and NOT hardware dependent!
» Editing of Payroll Data: While your employee attendance system should produce accurate raw payroll data, it must allow you to edit that data to account for missed punches, employees working off site, benefit days and other exceptions to the rule, and that will further avoid finished payroll errors.
» Track Benefit Days: Your time management system must track not just actual time worked, but also keep track of vacation time, sick and personal days, and comp time or paid leave, and include that payroll data as part of the payroll interface to your payroll processing system.
» Enforce Rules and Schedules: A truly automated time and attendance system will enforce work rules and schedules so the raw payroll data does not include un-worked or unauthorized overtime. This is especially important because the payroll errors you never hear about are overpayments!
